Apple has decided to apply a significant change in terms of battery changes. The company has confirmed via its support website that the price of changing these batteries into the iPhone will be 24 dollars higher from March 1. One more reflection of the galloping inflation that we have been dragging since last year.
The change is global, not just in USA: in the United States, the price increase is 20 dollars. The only iPhone models that are exempt from this price increase are the iPhone 14, but it makes sense: all are still under warranty due to their young age.
A quick example given to us by the support site itself: changing the battery of an out-of-warranty iPhone 13 Pro now costs 75 dollars. From March 1, 2023, the price will increase from 24 dollars to 99 dollars.
There is good news: the price increase will only affect the iPhone which are out of warranty. You won’t pay anything either if the phone is under an AppleCare+ plan, which is also available in USA and offers cover against theft and loss.
Beyond that, Apple says that any of you thinking of changing your iPhone’s battery should do so in less than two months. Otherwise you will pay 24 dollars more for the same service. You can tell whether your iPhone needs a battery change or not by checking its status in the system settings, “Battery” section, and “Battery status” subsection.
