IO Interactive announces upcoming changes killer 3.
According to the developer, the Hitman series will be streamlined and will henceforth be known as World of Assassin-Killers.
This change will affect how existing and new Hitman players can access, experience, and purchase the Hitman trilogy. Beginning January 26, Hitman 3 will change to Hitman World of Assassination and include Hitman and Hitman 2 through the existing Access Pass system.
Players who currently own Hitman 3 can upgrade to World of Assassination for free on all platforms. For those interested in purchasing the Lite Edition, World of Assassination will be the only option available to start the game.
With this change, all new players and existing owners will have the same base content ownership. Once the changes are implemented, there will be no more confusion about which edition to buy, what content to have, or how to redeem old packs or where to import them.
For new players who purchase the game, two products will be offered, replacing the existing collection purchase method.
Hitman World of Assassination is $70 or local equivalent and includes Hitman 3, Hitman GOTY Access Pass and Hitman 2 Standard Access Pass.
Another purchase option is the World of Assassination Deluxe Pack, which costs $30 or your local currency equivalent. It includes Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack, Seven Deadly Sins Collection and Hitman 2 Expansion Access Pass.
For existing players, you may own some games or DLC but not others due to the many different ownership combinations. So those who may not own all the published content will have some options.
On Steam, the set can be optionally completed with the three DLC packs included in the World of Assassination Deluxe Pack (H3 Deluxe Pack, H3 The Seven Deadly Sins Collection, and H2 Expanded Access Pass). This means you only have to split equally for anything you don’t own. For example, if you own two DLCs, you’ll only pay $10 for the remaining DLCs instead of paying full price for the complete deluxe pack.
On other platforms, every DLC in the new World of Assassination Deluxe Pack will be added to the in-game store. Like the Steam version, options will split the pricing equally. If you own some (but not all) of the content, you’ll be able to buy whatever you’re missing at a brand new discounted price.
With these changes, the standalone Hitman and Hitman 2 games will be discontinued on all platforms. If you already own these games, you can still access them, and most of the content included in these games will still be playable through World of Assassination.
