Report from Diversity has revealed that Earl Boen – the original voice of Monkey Island’s main antagonist, Captain LeChuck – has died aged 81 after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer late last year.
In addition to appearing in the Monkey Island series until 2010, Boen voiced characters and designed games such as World of Warcraft, Metal Gear Solid 2 (Sergej Gurlukovich), Baldur’s Gate and Psychonauts (Butcher).
Outside of his long list of VA roles in video games, he was perhaps best known as criminal psychologist Dr. Peter Silberman in the Terminator movies, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has also voiced characters in animations such as Clifford’s Really Big Movie and Kim Possible, and even starred in series such as Seinfeld and Star Trek.
