Steam once again breaks the record for most concurrent and active users

New Year, New Opportunities steam Breaking some records, it did so when it had more than 10 million active players over the weekend.

As spotted by Eurogamer, Steam once again broke its concurrent user record, reaching its latest peak of 33,078,963 players logged in at the same time, according to SteamDB stats yesterday (January 8). Remember, in October alone, Steam hit the 30 million concurrent users mark, so that’s a leap in just a few months. This isn’t the only record set by Steam, though, as SteamDB also reports 10,284,568 active users, which means a large group of people are playing the game at once.

It’s not surprising to hear when these particular recordsets were set, since Steam hit 25 million concurrent users almost a year ago. It’s winter and it’s obvious we’re all hiding inside trying to deal with the backlog. Although to be precise, the top three games people play include CS:GO and Dota 2, as well as the recent rise of the Among Us clone GooseGooseDuck. Besides these three, the usual other suspects like Modern Combat 2, GTA 5, PUBG, Apex Legends, Rust, Lost Ark, and Wallpaper Engine make up the rest of the top 10.
