Samsung’s next unpacked event is getting closer and with it the presentation of the new S23 models, including the upcoming flagship called Galaxy S23 Ultra.
So far it is known that the main sensor of the smartphone will be equipped with a powerful wide-angle camera. However, a new leak shows another detail that affects the ultra-wide-angle camera and periscope camera.
Bigger sensors for all cameras?
The main sensor of the upcoming flagship from Samsung is said to boast a flashy 200 megapixels. It is therefore no wonder that the wide-angle camera is even larger this year than on the S22 Ultra from 2022.
Now a leak shows what is supposed to be the case for Samsung’s top model and reveals a small but not insignificant detail about the other two lenses. These could also have a larger sensor, which ensures more light intensity when taking pictures and is particularly useful in poor lighting conditions.
The well-known and usually well-informed leaker Ice universe presents a comparison on Twitter that should clarify the differences:

In addition to the conspicuousness of the larger lenses, other changes can be seen in the picture. The volume buttons and the power button are further down on the case so that they could be easier to reach with smaller hands.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether the 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera and the 10-megapixel periscope camera will actually get a larger sensor. Samsung could also simply adjust the two lenses to the size of the main sensor in order to deliver a visually coherent image.
author’s opinion
Of course we are talking about small details compared to the previous model. The leaps in the smartphone sector are getting smaller and smaller from year to year, but there are still sensible improvements. Bigger sensors for all camera lenses would make for better shots in low light. In any case, it would be nice to see Samsung not only enlarge the other two cameras optically. Either way, the 23 Ultra is sure to deliver a strong camera setup to look forward to!
