Last week, the upcoming release of the Klötzchen MMO Hegemony caused astonishment in the Minecraft community. After all, this is a completely new game that was built using Minecraft. Then the release was postponed by two weeks.
Those who just feel like a Minecraft MMO do not have to wait for the release of Hegemony. It's not the first time that Minecraft players have such an ambitious idea. There is already a full one playable MMO alternative in Minecraft called Wynncraft!
What is Wynncraft exactly?
The developers worked on Wynncraft for over four years before the MMO was finally released in 2017. Like Hegemony, Wynncraft is also free and has been regularly visited by players since its release.
At the moment there are always around 500 players in the smallest details and hand-built game world. These are not huge numbers now, but if you want to do a few leisurely rounds in Wynncraft with your friends, you can still do it easily.
Wynncraft basically doesn't work much differently than Hegemony, or any other MMO RPG. Here you have a small overview of all features:
- levels: In Wynncraft you collect experience points with everything you do and thereby continuously level up. In addition, you will of course also find better loot, which lets you hand out more violently.
- Own world: The game world of Wynncraft was one of the largest cards a group of players has ever created in Minecraft. Every cave and tree was painstakingly put together here and the result is a vast fantasy world made up of a total of 4000×5000 blocks.
- Quests: As in every MMO, you mainly deal with quests in Wynncraft. The developers have installed a little over 100 different tasks in the game and tell the story of their game world.
- Guild: There are also guilds where players can organize themselves. However, since the players have declined somewhat over the years, this is not always absolutely necessary.
How can i play Wynncraft?
Wynncraft is a dedicated server for Minecraft. So you basically need the main game first. Afterwards it is enough to join the corresponding server and you can start right away.
You have to do the following step:
- Start the Minecraft launcher on your computer.
- Click on "Multiplayer" in the launcher and then on "Add Server".
- Enter "Wynncraft" for the server name and "play.wynncraft.com" for the server address.
- Then switch the server resource packages from "Deactivated" to "Activated".
- Then simply click on "Done" and double-click on Wynncraft to access the server.
Wynncraft is still supported by the developers. A few months ago, they only released Update 1.19. So despite its age, the game is by no means dead.
