It took many years, too, but finally the day has come. iTunes is definitely history. It was already on Macs, but the application was still alive on Windows computers…until today. Apple has launched the new official applications of its services for Windows.
Now Windows users can use the Music app to manage their songs and access the Apple Music catalog. We can do the same with Apple TV for Apple TV+ series and movies, although for now the apps are in the “preview” phase.
Apple Music and Apple TV for Windows, by End
The interface of both applications is quite simple, fitting the general appearance of Windows and without being too complex. They will be in direct competition with apps from other services like Spotify, so how you look and feel will play a big role. Of course, the audio and video quality of both apps will be the same as macOS apps.
There is a third application, called Apple Devices, which will allow us to synchronize our devices (iPhone and iPad) with the PC. From here we can also create and manage backup copies, the same way it was done from iTunes.
You can download music, TVs and Apple devices from the Windows Store. All requires Windows 11 to run, so if you are one of those who are still using Windows 10, you will have to think about upgrading. iTunes is still available as long as all these new apps are still in preview.
