According to Ubisoft: “Mirage will be a traditional Assassin’s Creed”

According to Ubisoft:

We’ve already read a lot of ink on speculation about Ubisoft’s new Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. We know that this story will tell the events led by the character Basim, who made an appearance in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. And that its creators have expressed that behind this development there was a desire for a story centered on the characters and the central pillars of the first games of the franchise.

In fact, Ubisoft itself hinted that the scale would be something more “intimate”, which we can translate to something smaller than the franchise’s later, gigantic games. This is one of those decisions that I personally appreciate.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is a “love letter” to the first game in the series

The latest rumors suggested that the game could see the light of day in the second half of 2023. Anyway, this information has not yet been confirmed. What is confirmed is that we are ahead a more traditional game, closer to the first title than to the later ones. In a recent interview with a colleague GamesRadarStéphane Boudon, who is currently creative director at Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, said the game’s development team designed it to be a “love letter” to the original Assassin’s Creed, released in 2007.

Additionally, the team has confirmed that you won’t need to be playing Valhalla to enjoy Mirage’s Basim. Although personally I think it’s always a plus.

With its more condensed scope and clear focus on Basim and his story as an adult, our main goal with Mirage is to provide a complete immersion into 9th century Baghdad and the key events of the time for the Hidden Ones. We wanted this game to be self-contained and enjoyable for everyone.
