Sony has once again improved the PlayStation 5 and delivered another firmware update. The main focus is on the new DualSense Edge controller.
While the next major update of the PlayStation 5 system software is already casting its shadow and bringing not only Discord integration but even support for cloud gaming into play, Sony has initially made a smaller firmware version available for download.
You can now download the new version 22.02-06.50.00 of the firmware for the PlayStation 5, but the range of features is generally limited. The main focus is on the new DualSense Edge controller, because the system software ensures that it really works with the PS5. So if you want to stock up on the new professional wireless controller from the release on January 26, 2023, you should switch to this new firmware version as soon as possible.
The DualSense Edge was announced in August 2022 and features, for example, three different types of interchangeable stick caps, two interchangeable sets for the rear buttons and replaceable stick modules. There are also several hardware and software-based customization options, which you can use to deactivate or reassign certain button inputs, for example. The stick sensitivity can also be optimized by fine tuning. And: Several, quickly changeable user profiles can be created. But in the end you have to put down a lot, because the controller goes on sale for a whopping 239.99 dollars.
Apart from the compatibility with the new controller, Sony also promises general performance improvements for the system software for the update, but does not go into detail in this regard. You should therefore probably not expect too big jumps.
