Be sure to cast your votes in the poll below; but first, let’s look at the box designs themselves.
North America / Europe
The western design for Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge features what is presumably the main protagonist, Christopher Belmont, swinging the franchise’s signature whip at an enemy sneaking through an iron passageway. The background here is particularly impressive, showing numerous structures and natural landmarks. The logo itself is incredibly impressive – verbatim
Japan
The Japanese approach, on the other hand, is very reminiscent of his previous efforts in frame art, focusing on incorporating multiple figures into a more abstract composition. The main image itself does not occupy the entire “canvas”, with the game’s logo and various icons placed on a white background. Needless to say, the imagery here is stunningly beautiful, with Dracula himself looking incredibly menacing, towering over Christopher Belmont in the foreground. Phew, this is going to be a tap choice!
