Valve actually wanted to replace the Lunar New Year Sale with the Spring Sale on Steam – but to the surprise of many players, the Lunar New Year Sale has started anyway and is currently attracting discounts on many games.
Anyone who followed the plans for Steam did not necessarily expect a Lunar New Year sale this year. After all, Valve wanted to reposition itself in terms of sales campaigns and stamp out the Lunar New Year campaign and replace it with a spring sale at another time. Nevertheless, there are now price reductions on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
The special discount campaign celebrates the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit – and to go with it, it delivers a number of discounts on countless Chinese games, but also on titles from globally known publishers such as Bethesda, Microsoft, SEGA and Bandai Namco.
In a blog entry in September 2022, it was announced that the Lunar New Year Sale would be removed from the 2023 program; instead, the aforementioned spring sale is scheduled to start on March 16th. At the time, however, developers and publishers were left open whether they wanted to grant discounts on their titles themselves for the Lunar New Year. It is not known whether, against this background, so many companies simply came together that the promotion offered itself for an entire sales campaign, or whether Valve simply changed its mind. Either way, you can look forward to some bargains!
Some highlights of the discounted titles are:
- Forza Horizon 5 – 38,99 Euro (-35%)
- Halo Infinite Campaign – 29.99 Euro (-50%)
- Tales of Arise – 23,99 Euro (-60%)
- Scarlet Nexus – 19,99 Euro (-75%)
- Lost Judgement – 41,99 Euro (-30%)
- Person 5 Royal – 41.99 Euro (-30%)
- Soul Hackers 2 – 32,99 Euro (-45%)
- Sword and Fairy 7 – 20,99 (-30%)
The Lunar New Year sale will probably run until the end of the month.
