The popular artificial intelligence language GPT-3 has taken over Siri!
A developer managed to create a personalized version of Siri which is distinguished by its naturalness. To perform this test Mate Marschalko took advantage of iOS shortcuts, Apple’s HomeKit and nothing more and nothing less than controversy and popular artificial intelligence language GPT-3.
Marschalko shared the development details through a post on his Medium profile, through which he was able to version Siri. In addition, he shared an interesting video, which we share with you below, with the start of the assistant and its interaction after several requests.
In the video we can hear the developer interacting with his assistant. It started with questions like “Who are you?” and immediately demanded an action to stop recording the video in a darkened room, to which the assistant quickly responded by turning on the venue lights.
During the exchange the developer and the virtual assistant they touched on several topics. At one point, the promoter asked for information on his next tourist destination, then to know the current temperature in his kitchen.
However, the video also shows a final interaction where the user asks for a recommendation to set the room thermostat at bedtime. To meet the demand, the assistant set the thermostat to 19°C, which the user considered high for sleeping, and took the opportunity to report as one of the current problems of GPT chat, such as inaccuracy or error when sharing data.
How to program your own Siri?
Marschalko said his goal was effectively replacing Siri with GPT-3. To do this, he asked GPT-3 to pose as the brains of his smart home, carefully explaining what he can access in the house and how to fulfill his demands.
All the foregoing, without writing code to achieve it. Instead, he explained to GPT-3 what he wanted to do. He asked him to interpret conversational English and provide an appropriate JSON response. According to Marshallko:
As you can see, I explained everything in simple English. I described the types of queries, the exact structure of the response, and asked him to behave like a reactive AI, giving advice even for personal questions. I have also provided some details about the time, location, appliances and rooms in the house. From there, we will receive a perfectly structured response. And that’s all it takes to program it!
