The latest boxed video game software rankings are in for Europe’s biggest gaming market, the UK, and this week there’s a new #1, and that’s the recently released Fire Emblem Engage for Nintendo Switch. However, the game’s launch wasn’t as big as 2019’s Fire Emblem Three Houses as sales were down 31%, although it’s still the second biggest launch for a Fire Emblem game here in the UK. Here is the GfK UK Boxed Top Ten for the week ending 21 January 2023:
“Sales of the first title are 31% less than what its predecessor (2019’s Fire Emblem Three Houses) managed. The new game’s graphics look more anime-style, which may have limited its Western appeal a bit. Yet despite this, it is still the series’ second biggest launch in the UK, ahead of cult 3DS hit Fire Emblem Awakening.”
