Warhammer 40K: Darktide Released on PC late last year, a dark and clunky version left 4 Dead is set in the bleak, distant future of Games Workshop. It was OK! Had its problems, but was ok. However, these issues persist into 2023, and so the developers are shelving an Xbox version of the game while they work to fix them.
In a statement released today, Fatshark says they set out to “build a highly engaging and stable game with a depth that will keep you playing for weeks, not hours,” but “haven’t lived up to those expectations.”
As a result, not only are they delaying “seasonal content” for the PC version, but also the release of the game on Xbox Series X|S.
OPEN LETTER TO OUR PLAYERS
At Fatshark we take great pride in our ability to deliver a game enjoyed by millions. That’s exactly what we set out to achieve with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, to create a highly engaging and stable game with a depth that will keep you playing for weeks, not hours.
We did not meet these expectations.
Over the next few months we will focus solely on addressing the feedback from many of you. In particular, we will focus on providing a full crafting system and a more rewarding progression loop, and continue to work on game stability and performance optimization.
This also means that we will be delaying our seasonal content launch and the launch of Xbox Series XIS. We will also suspend the upcoming releases of premium cosmetics. We just couldn’t continue down this path as we knew we weren’t addressing many areas of feedback in the game today.
Thank you for playing and providing feedback. We really appreciate it. It has and will continue to help shape the game we love.

I didn’t think the PC version was that bad! Sure, there have been issues, but online games by smaller teams like this often do. On the other hand, smaller teams often do not have the resources for this all at the same time, So if you want to do it with what you have, you will do it with what you have!
