Today, January 25th, 2023, Marvelous announced the release date of Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life in the west — just as the game was released on the Japanese eShop at 12am on January 26th in Japan. This means that some players have decided to open a Japanese eShop account (which you can do yourself – we’ve got a guide here!) in order to play the game early.
However, the game does not have an option to play in English, so anyone who does not work speak Japanese they’ll either have to pick up a ton of farming terms over the next few days or – like this Reddit poster above did – use a live translation app to do the handy work for them.
Harvest Moon Ushi No Tane fan page has a translation of the Famitsu review, published last week on January 20th:
The writer has not played a farming game before, so the article highlights their mistakes and how they enjoyed life on the ranch… They had difficulty raising cows and stated that their cow’s health had deteriorated. Even after the health condition improved, it was not enough to recover the production quality of the cattle.
Talking to the inhabitants of the valley was enjoyable, as the reviewer found learning about the personalities and backgrounds of the characters fascinating. They admit they tried to see as much of the game as possible by cycling through waking up, watering crops, and going to bed to end the day early. After becoming familiar with crops and cows, they felt they could be successful with their farm.
The writer also notes that the outbuilding expansions have gone up in price, as much as four times what they cost on the GameCube version.
The English version of Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will be out in the west on June 27, 2023.
Will you be getting the Japanese version of A Wonderful Life to skip the wait, or just can’t be bothered to read everything through a translator? Let us know in the comments!
