The Leviathan is one boss at a time dead space remake, and the original.
Once you’ve neutralized all eight Wheezers in Chapter 6, you can enter the hydroponic food storage area to try and eject the Leviathan.
Things don’t go as planned, however, we’ve detailed exactly how to beat leviathan boss in Dead Space below. Although this guide is for the remake, the general strategy for beating Leviathan is the same if you’re playing the original Dead Space.
How to beat the Leviathan boss in Dead Space
The Leviathan is a huge boss at the end of Chapter 6 that you must defeat by floating in zero gravity in the remake or jumping between surfaces in the original.
Before approaching the Leviathan, we recommend aiming and using Stasis to bring you containers and floating resources. It’s also a good idea to use Stasis to bring the red canisters closer to you so they’re easily accessible during combat.
The Leviathan will wake up when you get close enough, and you’ll know a tentacle is going to attack you when it screams. Click R3 to move away at the end of this shout to dodge the attack.
The first thing you need to do to beat the Leviathan boss in Dead Space is wait for one of its tentacles to attack, then damage the glowing bags on the attacking tentacle. You can use your long-range weapons like the Plasma Cutter or Contact Beam to damage the bag, or use Kinesis on the red rounds floating around the room and then throw them.
The Dead Space remake brings back the Hunter and Leviathan bosses, as well as the Centrifuge puzzle. New additions include security clearance levels, weapon slots, and revised trophies and achievements.
When you damage the Leviathan enough by shooting its tentacles, they will pull back and the mouth in the middle will open, firing projectiles at Isaac. We recommend using your strongest long range weapons to attack that mouth when it’s open. The contact beam is ideal for this.
In the remake, when you damage the Leviathan’s mouth enough, gas will release and the tentacles will come back to attack you. There is no gas in the original, but the tentacles will also return.
This is the final phase of the Leviathan boss fight, and you must swap between damaging the mouth and the glowing bags on the tentacles when they finally seem to beat the Leviathan in Dead Space.
Once the Leviathan is dead, you can return to hydroponics and conclude Chapter 6.
