Legends of Runeterra have just released their 2023 roadmap, revealing a new release schedule for major content updates, balance patches, and champion releases.
A new competition structure will also be announced tomorrow, which will offer some exclusive rewards to those who take part in the test. Path of Champions gets a bunch of new content through relics and champions, and the game as a whole is getting some new champion cards that are exclusive to Legends of Runeterra.
All of these updates, and future ones, are part of the game’s new quarterly release plan, which will roll out four major updates a year. This steady rollout of content should give players a better idea of what to expect as each year progresses.
Quarterly releases include expansions, live balance patches, and various sets. The expansion will include those much-hyped new champion releases and new mechanics, sets of sorts are a small selection of cards dropped to keep the game fresh, and balance patches are tweaks to the powerful or boring cards you’d expect .
Additionally, the team behind Legends of Runeterra is working on a way to show your achievement progress to other players. Whether this will be like a similar system in League of Legends, or an entirely different feature, remains to be seen. But who doesn’t love to show off?
It’s been a while since Legends of Runeterra launched, and in theory, this update schedule should excite the loyal fan base that’s stuck around.
