sony A new ad campaign has launched to promote the fact that you shouldn’t have a problem buying a PS5 right now, and its live-action trailer appears to be teasing something it hasn’t revealed yet.
In a post on the official PlayStation blog, Sony announced that the long-running PS5 shortage the company has suffered since the console’s launch in 2020 is over. Unprecedented demand for PS5 consoles amid Global Challenges,” the post reads. “If you’re looking to buy a PS5 console, it should now be easier to find one at global retailers. ”
As part of this announcement, Sony has kicked off a new ad campaign called Live from PS5, featuring trailers showing off some of the platform’s most popular IPs such as God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Horizon and the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI, all the shots are like news reports. It’s funny, and a pretty classic Sony ad move, but there are a couple of blink-and-miss shots that don’t look entirely familiar.
The longest shot shows a woman approaching some kind of podium in a cave with a treasure on it, which doesn’t appear to be from any particular Sony IP, but soon some people want to know If it’s the new Uncharted game. While the footage is short, the scene does look a lot like Uncharted, and it’s unlikely to be a new Tomb Raider game. The thing is, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckman recently said that the studio is “continuing” the series.
That doesn’t technically rule out a new Uncharted game, though. Last year, a job listing for a new Sony studio was spotted that said it would be working with Naughty Dog on “an exciting new project with Naughty Dog on a much-loved series.” Crash Bandicoot can be ruled out, since Activision owns the IP, which really leaves only Jak and Daxter, or Uncharted.
Whatever it is, it’s not officially revealed by Sony, and it’s unclear if it’s a reality show, so for now we’ll just have to wait and see what tricks it hides.
