In a few days, Koei Tecmo and EA will launch a major attack on Monster Hunter. Wild Hearts will be released on February 17, 2023. However, if you are looking forward to crisp and smooth hunts, you will probably be disappointed. In a Reddit AMA, the Executive Producer has now announced the graphics modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and they are rather disappointing.
For too long there has been a major stalwart in the monster-hunting genre. Capcom’s Monster Hunter has always reigned supreme, and so far no competitor has managed to change that. With Wild Hearts, Koei Tecmo and EA launch the biggest offensive on the alpha animal to date. We will find out on February 17, 2023 whether the attempt will be successful. At least technically, Monster Hunter World and Wild Hearts should hardly take anything.

Because as Lewis Harvey, Executive Producer of the title, announced in an Ask me Anything on Reddit, the graphics modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are quite disappointing. By default, the game runs in Performance mode on both devices, which means 1080p with 60 frames per second. Alternatively, you can opt for the quality mode. The resolution increases up to 4K with 30 FPS. Harvey did not reveal what it looks like on Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Looking at previous Wild Hearts gameplay videos, this information gives reason for skepticism. Because even if the game looks very coherent and scores with a strong art style, the overall graphic quality shows very clearly that it is a cross-gen release. So why not at least 1440p on the current consoles with 60 frames per second is inside, only the developers themselves know.
In Wild Hearts you hunt the so-called Kemono. These are huge animal-like creatures whose designs were heavily influenced by Japanese animal gods. In addition to larger-than-life weapons, the Karakuri will help you hunt. These special devices create walls, catapult you into the air and much more. In addition to last-gen and current-gen consoles, the game will be released for the PC and should even offer crossplay between all systems.
