Apple is thinking about a new high-end model. This is reported by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in his weekly Power On-Newsletter. According to him, a new iPhone Ultra should probably not replace the Pro Max, but expand the smartphone portfolio upwards.
The Bloomberg journalist originally predicted the release of the iPhone Ultra for 2023. Now he’s predicting a possible launch for 2024, along with the iPhone 16 series. In a conversation with investors, Tim Cook also discussed a possible price increase, which the CEO said was not a problem.

iPhone Ultra: Tim Cook sticks to price increases
The iPhone 14 (Pro) was released in September 2022 with a hefty price increase. For Tim Cook apparently no exclusion criterion for a further price increase with regard to the Ultra model. According to the report linked above, the Apple boss is convinced that users would spend more money on an iPhone if they got more functions in return.
I think people are willing to really stretch to get the best they can afford in this category.

Furthermore, Tim Cook states that the smartphone has become an “integral” part of our lives. After all, users would use the iPhone every day to make payments, control smart home devices or monitor their health.
Such a model seems realistic. After all, Apple has started to differentiate the Pro series more from the standard version of the iPhone in recent years. In 2023, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is even expected to appear with exclusive features over the smaller Pro. The Pro Max model should have a periscope camera with an improved optical zoom.
iPhone Ultra could come without a charging port
An iPhone without any charging connections has been circulating on the internet for a long time. Of course, it’s still unclear how the Ultra model will differ from the iPhone 16 Pro models. But according to Mark Gurman, it could be the first Apple smartphone that completely dispenses with plug-in connections and relies entirely on wireless charging.
In addition to the missing ports, Gurman thinks it’s possible that Apple will equip the Ultra model with a better processor, a better camera and a larger display.
