Decathlon will allow you to charge your electric car during your shopping
Soon, watching someone recharge their electric car will cease to be something esoteric and become something as common as filling up the gas tank. And the key to expanding this technology may lie in stores.

And it is that the great obstacle to the use of electric cars lies precisely in the chargers or rather in their absence. There simply aren’t enough charging points in Europe to justify buying an electric one, especially with the range that current models get.
Decathlon takes the electric leap
What if you could charge the car while you shop? Suddenly, this obstacle disappears. Installing charging stations in areas where people park their cars can be vital for the adoption of this technology, so it’s good news that within weeks several companies have announced it.
Only a few days after Mercadona, it is now Decathlon which announces the installation of more than 400 charging stations for electric vehicles in Europe; These charging car parks will be installed in 39 establishments, as well as in one of Decathlon’s logistics centres.
Some Decathlon car parks will offer electric car charging
The announcement is part of an agreement with EDP, which will be responsible for the charging stations. A curious detail is that not all chargers will have the same power or availability. To begin with, the slowest will be those of 22 kW, considered “semi-fast”, and the intermediate point will be those of 50 kW, “fast”. Finally, the ultra-fast chargers will be 150 kW and are those that will be available 24 hours a day for drivers who come to the area of the establishment.
As with Mercadona, the fact that Decathlon includes these chargers does not mean that their use is included in our purchase. We will have to make a separate payment, with the “Move On” mobile application which will be compatible with contactless technology, either by card or by smartphone.
