Just under two weeks ago, OpenAI released the ChatGPT Plus subscription model in the USA, as we reported to you in our info article on ChatGPT. Now the AI company has also launched a version of the subscription in Europey.
Anyone who pays $23.80 (about $22.29) a month should have guaranteed access to ChatGPT, even when the servers are under heavy load. If you use ChatGPT more often, you will have noticed that the AI is often unavailable. This is due to the numerous requests and sessions that OpenAI’s servers have to process. With the subscription you should avoid that.
Another “disadvantage” of ChatGPT is said to be corrected with the subscription. The so-called turbo version should enable Plus users to receive answers from the AI much faster than before. In the free version, depending on the request, it can take a few seconds for something to happen. With detailed answers, the writing process also takes time. Both should go faster if you want to spend money on it every month.
In addition, OpenAI announced that Plus subscribers should get early access to new features or improvements. However, they do not provide examples.
What will change for non-paying users?
According to OpenAI, it wants to use the income to continue offering good free support for as many users as possible. This means that the money goes directly back to the users. So it should continue to run as before for those who use ChatGPT free of charge. The future will show whether this works despite prioritized users.
However, Microsoft plans to release a new version of Bing soon that uses a ChatGPT version that can access the Internet. That means there will be a good and, above all, free alternative that may not be quite as fast, but can output and process current data via the Internet. Whether in the future Bing will be the best choice to use ChatGPT best will be seen when the new Bing is released for everyone.
No version of AI is perfect yet. This is also shown in the article by colleague Tim Elsner, who tells you why you should not use ChatGPT to do homework for school or university. Here’s the article:
