The clear theme and some new animations will not be the only novelties that will arrive in the future on Android-Autothere could also be a feature that was removed with the arrival of Coolwalk.
with the new Android-Autoits interface stopped showing time in the status bar, forcing users to ask Google Assistant for the weather or resort to third-party apps like Weatherology or Weather & Radar. Also, Android Auto’s time would be back.
Android Auto could turn back time
The weather icon came to Android Auto in 2019 and has displayed this weather feature for four years, until the arrival of the Coolwalk interface, which removed top status bar to embed it in the bottom navigation bar, but Google left out the weather icon.
Now that Android Auto Coolwalk has been coming worldwide for a few weeks, more users miss the weather icon and they show their discomfort with the deletion on social networks and forums, to which a Google employee had to bring peace of mind to angry users.
In the Google support page forums, a user complained in a post saying that the time is not displayed on Coolwalk, asking the company if it was an error, which several users joined with the same doubt. The answer to this question was answered by an Android Auto developer:
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your comments. We’re glad to know you like Coolwalk.
At this time, weather information has not been included in the Coolwalk update. Our team is investigating options to reset the weather feature.
We have passed on all your comments. We’ll keep track of updates and share more information as it becomes available.
THANKS !
The Android Auto team
In their response, we see how Google didn’t include weather information in the revamped Android Auto on purpose, but they are working to see how they can take time back to the new Android Auto interface.
It shouldn’t be very difficult to bring the weather back to Android Auto, just redesign the weather icon and add it next to time, coverage and battery, unless you want view more comprehensive weather using split screen from Android Auto.
