You may have heard there was a Nintendo Direct last week, and what a showcase it was. Not only do we get a good look at upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch, but the long-rumored Metroid Prime Remastered also got a secret release shortly after.
Alas, fans of Metroid Prime can rejoice. However, Metroid Prime’s original developers expressed their disappointment with the remastered game. More specifically, it lacks full credits.
Former Metroid Prime developer, cherry wine, took to Twitter to share their displeasure with the credits. “While many studios have done fantastic work on the remake, I’m disappointed that the Metroid Prime remake doesn’t include the full original game credits.”
Kirsch continued, “I’ve worked with a lot of amazing people on the game, and everyone’s name should be included in the remake.”
While many studios have done excellent work on remakes, I’m disappointed that Metroid Prime’s remake doesn’t include the full original game’s credits. I’ve worked with a lot of amazing people on the game, and everyone’s name should be included in the reforge, not just a card like this one. pic.twitter.com/Yvojf9f9Mq

The tweet was later followed up by another original developer, Jack Matthewswho said, “That’s a sarcasm.” While noting that much of his own code may have been replaced, Mathews said it’s shameful for people whose “code and work are largely unchanged, like Mark HH, Steve McCrea, all art and concept, game design.”

This isn’t the first time the Metroid franchise has had casting issues, either. Back when Metroid Fear was released, the same issue arose, with some developers claiming their work wasn’t properly credited (via Ars Technica). This is a common problem in the industry and hopefully someday these talented people get the credit they deserve.
