On January 26, Sony finally released its premium controller for the PS5, four years after the release of Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series 2. A wait well worth it, even if the price kicked up a few teeth. DualSense Edge: the ultimate PS5 controller?
The DualSense Edge takes what made the DualSense so successful, like the dynamic triggers and haptic feedback, and includes what’s specific to a premium controller: a set of interchangeable joysticks, rear buttons, which here are similar to Go bricks, or even a button mapping with the ability to configure three profiles in addition to the default profile. On the other hand, the autonomy of only 5 hours certainly gave more than a hint. Even though it’s the most successful controller for the PS5, we’re entitled to ask questions about its price.
The DualSense Edge adopts almost the same design as the base controller A small revision on the side of the pad and joysticks for a better grip and is a bit heavier. The back buttons prove to be more practical than on the Xbox Elite Series 2, Sony has therefore embraced the formula that makes other pro controllers successful with a little more innovation. It will therefore be suitable for the most demanding players.
