Apple’s recognition of its employees is full of meaning!
Apple takes care of every detail in everything it does, whether it’s a massive product it will sell to its customers or in-house products that will be delivered to its team members. In recent days, a creation that belongs to the second list has been the protagonist of some unboxings in which several details are revealed, but not all.
It is Apple Anniversary Award, the physical recognition Apple gives to the company’s longest-serving employees. The distinctions reward those who for 10, 20, 30 and up to 40 years have collaborated with dedication in the innovative company.
Although recognition is not new, the latest opus is distinguished by its renewed designadapted to changing times and delivering on one of Apple’s most proud commitments.
All about the Apple Anniversary Award
According to a post shared by 9to5mac, the physical anniversary price was originally glass, but Apple updated it with new aluminum and stainless steel models in 2019. The 10 and 20 year models are aluminum , while the 30s and 40s are stainless steel.
Beveled edges are diamond cut. The stainless steel logo is also mirror finished and is placed in a precision machined pocket on the prize. Then, each winner’s name is laser engraved on the side of the award, along with the anniversary date. About the design and production process, Apple says:
True to Apple’s commitment to the environment, the awards start as leftovers from the production process, using the same iconic metals and colors as our products. These parts are collected and reformulated to create custom alloys. The alloys are cast into long ingots then cut into blocks and machined to final size. The surface of the aluminum awards is specially polished, sandblasted and then anodized. Stainless steel awards overlap for a stunning mirror finish.
Each of them was made possible through the collaboration of Apple teams, including Manufacturing Design, Industrial Design, Operations, Logistics, Packaging Product Design, Packaging Engineering Project . Management, Marcom, People, Finance, Communications, Legal, Purchasing and Facilities.
The post also shared details and images of each particular award, each with exclusive features:
Awards for 10 and 20 years
Apple uses the same recycled aluminum used in the Mac mini and MacBook Air.
30 years of awards.
It is made of stainless steel, made in two halves which are then seamlessly laser welded and then overlapped. Because if they were really solid stainless steel, they would weigh around 35 pounds.
40 Years Award.
The 40 Year Award is made in much the same way, but the top and bottom are also seamlessly joined together after a special color coating process.
Despite the differences, they all have the following features in common:* There are approximately 25-30 steps that go into making each award, not including fulfillment and packaging.* The employee’s name is engraved lasered on the right side of the award, along with the anniversary date.* Five-year anniversaries are honored with a framed plaque signed by Tim Cook.
