It’s been 12 years since The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim began its journey as one of the most popular role-playing games of all time. And if we’re being honest, the vanilla version is showing its age now.
But what if Skyrim 2023 could look as amazing as it does in our glorified memories? A mildly megalomaniacal mod pack called Elysium
achieves just that and much more. It includes in the updated version Elysium Remastered around 1,800 Graphics Modswho push the role-playing game into the present day with verve.
We’ll show you how great it looks! Meanwhile, our writer Martin Seng wishes Bethesda would learn from the even older Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls 6:
Mod madness for high-performance computers
Once again, the YouTuber ventures from the channel Digital Dreamsto push the graphical boundaries of a game. In the following 4K video you can see snow-capped mountains, a village bursting with details and much more:

If we had to pinpoint one detail that we like best, the fluffy, thick blanket of snow right at the beginning of the video looks particularly impressive, even if it doesn’t seem to react to the character’s feet as is common in many modern games.
The reflecting water surface of the half-frozen river is also convincing, as is the high level of detail during a leisurely walk through the forest. By the way, a raytracing reshade ensures more realistic lighting.
But sometimes the vanilla version is for surprises
gut: It took a Skyrim player eleven years to find one of the most basic game functions. And finally there is something like a multiplayer mode in Skyrim:

We had to wait 11 years for Skyrim multiplayer!
Can I play that too?
The YouTuber Digital Dreams offers the download of the Raytracing Reshade to supporters Patreon and Coffee at. On GitHub the complete, updated mod list (Elysium Remastered) with detailed installation instructions is also available.
You will need a very powerful PC though, in order to be able to play Skyrim smoothly in this splendor. For the 4K video, Digital Dreams used a PC with a Ryzen 9 7950X CPU and a high-end Geforce RTX 4090 graphics card.
How do you like the video with the 1,800 mods? Can you imagine making such an effort to beautify Skyrim? Have you been modding like crazy yourself until your computer gave out? Feel free to write it in the comments!
