Venom 3 is now a reality and inevitably the only question that can arise is a crossover with Spider-Man. For now, the pitch is still nebulous, but Tom Hardy has just announced “good” news about the film.
Return of the Symbiote
If the first Venom was some degree of commercial success — if not critical success — at $856 million at the box office, its sequel with Carnage was not of the same ilk, grossing $300 million less (which remains very creditable, even the critics have said). demoted it even more): never mind, For Sony, the antihero is just scratching the surface of its potential and Venom 3 was formalized during CinemaCon in April 2022.
We still don’t know his official title but Tom Hardy will fit well into his role as Eddy Brock and besides, the England star just released an important detail from his Instagram account: pre-production has officially started. Given the pace of the Hollywood industry, we should likely have more concrete news in the coming months.
Party Spider-Man?
If Venom 3 is to be eagerly awaited, it’s for this particular opportunity: a confrontation with Spider-Man. In the comics, the two characters face each other, and Venom is a direct descendant of Spider-Man and would never have appeared without Peter Parker. A trajectory changed drastically in the film Venom, in which Spider-Man never appeared.

Nevertheless, everything seems to indicate that a crossover with the Man-Spider should see the light of day at some point. It remains to be seen if that will happen with Venom 3, which is slated to be the last in the series. However, and as Marvel has taught us, this doesn’t mean the end of the person and the transition seems to have been underway for a while: we’re reminding youat the end of Venom 2, Eddie Brock (which, however, belongs to a universe detached from the MCU and belonging to Sony, in which we also find Morbius or soon Kraven the Hunter) finds himself projected into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and learns of the superhero’s existence.
In the post-credits scene of Spider-Man’s No Way Home, a film that fully opens up the path to the multiverse, However, Brock eventually returns to his world, leaving a portion of the symbiote in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. From there the path is paved Venom confronts Spider-Man one day. Even Andy Serkis, director of the second feature Venom, admitted that “of course it’s going to happen.”
Note that a Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland has also been formalized and yes, it is possible that the two opponents will face each other in this feature film.
Finally, to go into detail, Venom 3 is directed by Kelly Marcel, who will make her directorial debut. By then, the Englishwoman was known for having written Fifty Shades of Gray and for being behind the making of the Terra Nova series. She will also be handling the screenplay, having co-written (and also co-produced) the first two Venom.
