We know you’re keen to get your hands on it Wo Long: The Fallen Dynasty when day one with Game Pass starts on March 3rd. But before Team Ninja’s latest action RPG arrives, we’re releasing a new two-chapter demo to the Xbox Store today, showcasing the thrilling combat and intense combat of a demon-plagued dark in the fantasy-infused Three Kingdoms.
Here you are tasked with defying the odds as an anonymous militiaman using a blend of magic and Chinese martial arts to fight your way through waves of monsters and enemy soldiers in this late Han Dynasty epic. It’s a great opportunity to see what the game has in store, and most importantly, your saved data from the Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Demo will be carried over to the full version from March 3rd. If you manage to complete the first chapter, you’ll even be rewarded with the Crouching Dragon Helm, which you can equip in-game.
Before you jump into the action though, I wanted to break down seven things you should know before you awaken your inner strength in the full game.
moral to the story
The first thing you need to understand about the game is Morale Rank. Morale rank is a growth element used during missions that differs from your character’s level. The higher your morale rank, the less damage you take from enemies and the more combat elements are available. Morale points can be earned by defeating enemies or by landing martial arts attacks, spirit attacks, or a fatal blow. Your morale rank can increase up to a maximum level of 25.
enemy morale
Enemy morale ranks are displayed above their heads in the UI. The higher your morale rank compared to that of the enemy, the greater the damage they deal. In addition, the color of the morale rank icon indicates threat level, with green morale ranks lower than or equal to your character, yellow 1-4 points higher, and red 5+ points higher. Basically, if you see an enemy with a red morale rank, you should increase your own level a bit before fighting them or you could die quickly.
ghost squad
In addition to morale, you also need to keep an eye on your Spirit Gauge. Spirit is the strength of an individual’s willpower during combat and can be used to knock down enemies with martial arts, spells, and spirit attacks. Increase your willpower by landing normal attacks or parrying an enemy attack, but beware, getting hit by enemies will reduce your willpower, leaving you vulnerable to some of the tougher soldiers and monsters in the game.
Turn! Turn! Turn!
While you can parry most attacks, the key to making enemies miss or even stagger while preparing them for even bigger blows is the ability to distract. Wait for your opponent to prepare for his punch and use it when he goes on the attack Only
Wizards and Warriors
Spells are special abilities that align with the elements of the Five Phases. You can set up up to four different spells to use during battle. By targeting the enemy’s weak elements and status effects, you can gain the upper hand in battle. Successful use of spells can nullify an enemy’s elemental attack. For example, an area of flame (of the fire phase) created by an enemy can be extinguished by a water phase spell.
death from above
When climbing cliffs or standing next to a building, look down and look for enemies. Press Y while jumping down to deliver a fatal blow to an unsuspecting soldier or demon! Fatal Strikes can also be performed from behind by sneaking up on an enemy and pressing Y. The target marker turns red when it is possible to perform a Fatal Strike on a target.
partial destruction
Demons have hardened body parts that can be destroyed. You can destroy the hardened part by attacking it or deflecting an enemy’s critical hit. If you successfully perform the destruction of a part, the enemy will no longer be able to use that part to perform a critical hit or other attacks. Destroying parts also reduces the enemy’s max Spirit limit, which then increases your chance of launching a Fatal Strike.
These seven tips are just the beginning in depth Where to go‘s gameplay. From Divine Beasts to the different weapon types and Chinese martial arts, there is layer upon layer to learn, and this demo gives you a taste of what to expect when the game launches on March 3rd on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One , Windows PC, and will be available on day one with Game Pass on console and PC.
Until then, jump into the demo and see how many demons you can destroy. And don’t forget to check out the exciting new launch trailer, released today, which shows just a few of the famous faces from the Three Kingdoms you’ll encounter along the way.
