Larian Studios reassures Xbox Series X/S owners with announcement Baldur’s Gate 3 In development for Xbox, as the game is not a platform exclusive.
That’s according to Larian’s community manager, who said the development team ran into some technical issues with the Xbox Series X/S version, especially with spl it-screen co-op.
When release dates for the role-playing game and the PS5 version were announced earlier this week, it was assumed that the lack of an Xbox Series X/S launch meant the game was a console exclusive. Again, according to the developers, this is not the case.
“Xbox players, we’ve seen your questions about if/when you can expect Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox,” reads the Reddit thread. “We’ve been working on the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 for a while, but we’ve run into some technical issues – especially with split-screen co-op.
“We’re still working on the Xbox version, but we’re not confident enough to announce it yet. We don’t like announcing anything until it’s ready because we don’t want to give people hope that we can deliver before we’re ready.”
Larian said that “platform exclusivity” doesn’t prevent it from releasing Baldur’s Gate 3 on the same day and date as Xbox, if that’s technically possible.
“If and when we do announce more platforms, we want to make sure each release meets our standards and expectations. Thank you for understanding.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on PC and PS5 on August 31st.
