Who is the best in Overwatch 2? Statistics show that most players don’t care

Hero shooter like surveillance 2 are always in flux when it comes to character pick rates. Balance changes, revamps, and new additions put a wrench in the machine, so a period of high load can mean many things for a character. But during surveillance 2 Launching just four months ago, we can still learn a bit from the heroes currently living their best lives as top picks.

in one Post on the official over watch websiteGame Director Aaron Keller has broken down some stats on character pick rates surveillance 2‘s third season. As the season progresses, the team appears to be fairly happy with the state of game balance as they won’t be making any major changes until the midseason patch. So it stands to reason that the following pick rate stats will be pretty much the same by then.

One of the bigger takeaways I have from looking at the stats is that the over watch Meta doesn’t always determine which characters are popular.

Case in point: Keller puts down the support picks first, which he feels feels well balanced across different skill levels, with “most” characters being viable regardless of what level you’re playing at. Brigitte is my secondary support character behind Baptiste, so it’s good to see that she seems to have the highest winrate across most skill levels, with Zenyatta leading among the top 500 players. Both enjoy a win rate of almost 55 percent. This pair is followed by Kiriko and Moira, whose win rate is around 45 percent. Despite all of that, Keller says Ana, Kiriko, and Mercy are the most used support heroes right now.

In Tanks, Reinhardt reigns supreme with a 58 percent win rate in the Bronze through Platinum ranks, while Sigma wins with a 55 percent win rate in the Masters and up. Keller points out that Roadhog is a particular pain point for tank players, and recent reworks have made him more situational. It sounds like Wrecking Ball, which received a notable buff from the addition of a regenerating shield, is kind of wild. His win rate apparently hovers between 51 and 55 percent, with a low pick rate in the lower ranks, but he’s apparently the most picked tank out of the top 500. Wrecking Ball has always been an odd outlier for the tank’s role, and the numbers really show how unpredictable he can be.

Damage characters come last, and after Sojourn shifts a few numbers, more characters come back into the spotlight. According to Keller’s analysis, Cassidy has risen to the top of the most-chosen damage figures for all ranks except for the top 500, where he sits neck and neck with flagship Tracer. At lower ranks, Symettra and Torbjörn have the highest winrates, with Symettra having the highest in-game winrate for all ranks below Masters.

It’s interesting to compare win rates and pick rates because while the sickest of competitive maniacs have their say on the meta, and that’s their own conversation, many players just pick who they like.

Win rate, which doesn’t always equate to higher pick rates, is a common thread between all three reels. Cassidy edged out the other damage players in terms of pick rate, but at most ranks the raw numbers suggest that Symmetra and Torb are arguably top of the range in terms of game winning. Kiriko is one of the most chosen supports, but in most ranks support characters like Brig and Zenyatta reportedly have higher success rates.

These stats are cool to look at, but most of us just choose the characters to swing with, regardless of where they sit in the meta. Soldier: 76, Orisa, and Baptiste don’t appear anywhere in this blog post, but they’re still my favorites and I’ll be sticking with them to the bitter end.

Unless they make Cassidy’s homing grenade Find Mei anywhere on the map. Then we will reevaluate.
