What does the new trailer reveal?

The release date: Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on August 31, 2023 for PC, Mac and PlayStation 5. The Xbox version has not yet been announced due to technical problems from developer Larian.

Console version: As mentioned, Baldur’s Gate 3 will also be released for PS5 and – logically – also offers full controller support. The Xbox version is located according to a Reddit post from the creators been in development for a long time, but there are technical difficulties with the split-screen mode.

According to his own statement, Larian wants to wait with the announcement until one is sure that an Xbox release is technically possible, so as not to raise hopes in vain. The company did not want to comment on speculation on the part of observers that the Xbox Series S was too weak to smoothly display the split-screen mode used in co-op mode on a console.

Chief developer Swen Vincke emphasized on Twitter that this was not an exclusive deal with Sony:

The rogue: The new video features a previously unknown villain, voiced by JK Simmons (Spider-Man, Whiplash): the necromancer Ketheric Thorm. Not only does he command an army of undead, but he has made himself invulnerable. Classic D&D antagonist! But how exactly does he fit into the story and does he have anything to do with the Mindflayers?

Ketheric Thorm seems to be a dog lover after all.

Split-Screen: It has long been known that the campaign can be played completely in co-op. Up to four players control the group of heroes online on the PC, locally two can play together in split-screen on a PS5. This option can be seen for the first time in the new video.
