Flying Wild Hog has been causing a scandal for a year. It is not for less, because in the last twelve months they have delighted us with Shadow Warrior 3 and Evil West, two of the most interesting AA cup proposals of recent times. But as if that were not enough, the studio has worked to improve Lo Wang’s latest adventure and, above all, to prepare it for the new generation of consoles.
A fact that is now more than realized, since we already have available Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition, the new version of the game that arrives a year after its launch. And it does so loaded with content, especially new game modes and challenges, with all the humor intact and perfectly prepared for Xbox Series X | S. Car Lo Wang will never change, just like his hatred of the Dragon which destroyed the world and which, once again, we must defeat.
The best? May the title come from the launch of the Xbox Game Pass and may we all enjoy this review.

technical part
One of the main focuses of this definitive edition is, without a doubt, the technical section. A technical apartado that, as there are contamos in the analysis of the original game, there are our good tastes, there are great results in Xbox Series X. New version. A version that is launched with an eye on next-gen consoles and the intention to make the most of them.
This is why we now find certain typical features of the generation, such as Quick Resume or even shorter loading times. Of course, the game still runs in 4K without any issues. The difference now is that we have two rendering modes: quality and performance, focused on getting better visual fidelity with higher graphics load or getting better FPS stability. The difference is noticeable between the two, but in a game of this style, we think it is better to take advantage of it in performance.
For the rest, Shadow Warrior 3 Definitive Edition continues to have this good visual and technical aspect which had already dazzled us a year ago. Beautiful landscapes, good chosen color scheme, good level of enemy development and design. In short, a more than acceptable role which, if not perfect, still leaves a good taste in our mouths.
gameplay
This new version of the adventures of Lo Wang does not bring us any great novelties in the gameplay. It’s still the same game in that sense, something totally logical to get it wrong. Thus, we are still faced with a game that is very visceral, fast and clearly influenced by the most modern Doom. The game sins of being too linear and of presenting very corridor scenarios, where we will go through different phases of quite simple and intuitive parkour, where it is very difficult to make a mistake.
Also, from time to time we will reach larger areas, called battle arenas, where we will have to defeat all the enemies to continue. Here, waves of enemies of all kinds will come at us and we will have to use all our weapons, ranged and our katana, as well as the elements of the scenery such as the explosive barrels.
In battle we can also use auctions to finish off an opponent with a single blow, obtaining in exchange a special weapon of limited duration. From freezing grenades to mini-towers to a bladed eye that kills everyone you look at, each type of enemy will provide us with a different temporary weapon.
On the other hand, we always have skill points and weapon improvement, which allow us to improve our weapons up to three levels by adding new effects, such as explosions when we shoot at the head, or by improving Lo Wang, like more life, better chi recovery and more. With all this, we are faced with an intense, fast and visceral first person shooter.
Duration
Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition presents itself as the most complete edition prepared for the new generation. Because of this, beyond the incitement of visual improvement, better FPS stability, and performance modes designed for Xbox Series X | S, the game presents new features in its game modes. The basic game remains the same, with a duration between 9 and 10 hours, although, as always, it will depend on the difficulty that we choose.
And in this sense, This new version includes a new modality: Heroic Mode. After choosing it, we can also select a difficulty (easy, normal, hard, etc.), as in normal games. The difference is that in heroic mode we will start with a single life. If we die, the game will be over and all our progress in this mode will be reset. In other words, if we die, it’s over and we have to start over. Of course, we can extend the number of lives up to 3 more by performing finishing moves, so this mechanic becomes even more important in this mode.
Other the new mode is survival mode, is out of the countryside. There we will enter three combat zones, where we will face waves of enemies, increasingly difficult and with a greater number of enemies, trying to survive as long as possible. A good way to challenge friends and see who can last the most, even if they don’t have any online tables and leaderboards to compare against.
The downside of these new game modes is that beyond providing new personal challenges, they don’t add new unlockable achievements or anything. Skin for weapons and nothing else.
conclusion
Flying Wild Hog returns to the fray with Lo Wang’s latest adventure. The most irreverent ex-shogun adapts to the new generation with Shadow Warrior 3: Definitive Edition, which is full of novelties in its game modes. New Game+, Heroic Mode or Survival Mode are the great novelties of this new version of the game.
With them comes the version for next-gen consoles, which allows two rendering modes, focused on improving visual fidelity or general game performance. As a result, we have an even more dynamic look, with better results and better FPS stability.
For the rest, we are faced with the same game, with the same brutality and speed that is so reminiscent of Doom. Without a doubt, a shooter that leaves no one indifferent. A safe bet for fans of the genre that we can all enjoy thanks to its inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass from the day of its launch.
