Despite or perhaps because of its great success, Sons of the Forest is splitting opinions: some love the large map and the great building function, while others strongly criticize the small size of the Early Access version.
Our test also criticizes and praises exactly these points:
A resourceful player has now discovered some missing content in the game files, which will probably find their way into the hugely successful survival game with a future update.
Player discovers new tools and weapons
Reddit user TOx1C has been digging around in the game files for the past few days and is there Stumbled upon some cool tools and weaponswhich the developers apparently could not incorporate into the game in time for the release.

His finds include:
- An ice ax apparently used to climb steep walls
- A pair of binoculars
- An airgun
- A normal gun
- Various, unspecified attachments for weapons
- A night vision device that should be particularly useful in caves
As the Dataminer reveals, he was also able to spawn all objects in the game using the developer console, which can currently only be activated via a mod. However, none of the new tools could be used or equipped – if you pick them up, they don’t appear in your inventory.
Since Sons of the Forest is currently in Early Access, there is a good chance that the missing content will still find its way into the game.
At the moment, however, the developers seem to be busy eliminating various errors and bugs. The much-requested Quickslot feature was fun at first, but then involuntarily turned players into limb-eating cannibals. Nothing is known about the first real content update yet, but we will of course keep you informed.
