But, “what exactly is a skill deck, and how will it help me maximize my zombie-slaying potential?” you ask. Well, first we have to talk about skill cards.
Skill Cards
Obtained by leveling up, found hidden around the city of Los Angeles, and collected from slain zombie enemies, Skill Cards are collectibles that, when equipped, grant Slayers special powers, abilities, and perks to help them in combat situations.
Some of them make you faster, more agile or stronger; some reward you with buffs every time you pull off that perfect decapitation, and some will set zombies you drop on fire, turning them into flying, flaming bags of rotting flesh. No, we are not kidding; there is a card that does that.
Whether you want to boost your stats to become the ultimate killing machine, or want access to an arsenal of acrobatic attack moves so you can slay zombies with maximum style points, there’s a skill card to suit your needs. needs.
We want you to have complete freedom in how you play, no matter which of the six Slayers you choose to fight through HELL-A. That’s why we’ve made the vast majority of skill cards applicable to everyone.
The right deck for the job
The skill deck is where you can browse your collection of skill cards and choose which ones you want to equip.
Suppose you’ve encountered a zombie posing a little more defiantly than the typical husk – maybe he looks like he’s hitting the gym and eating his greens. Or they have blades sticking out of their arms, yuck.
It’s time to make sure you’re working with the right skills to get the job done, which is why we’ve made Dead Island 2’s skill set fully remappable, at any time.
If you want to tweak a single map or completely change your playstyle – say from a tanky brawler to a nimble assassin – you can do so at any time with ease.
Part of the magic of building your skill deck is experimenting with all the different perks and abilities that skill cards grant you to find fun and effective synergies that suit your playstyle.

Arrives hot
Combine the Dash Strike ability with the Slayer Hammer Fist skill to unleash a strike capable of launching zombies into the stratosphere. This combo of cards is great for pushing zombies off the rooftops of those Beverly Hills mansions to their demise or into pools of acid and other dangerous substances. Came across a zombie donning a grenade belt? Pull the pin and send them into a mob of their kind to explosive results.
Burnt earth
Mix ground pound Ability with Survivor Skills Flare Up and Quake to create a truly devastating ground smash that knocks down zombies and ignites the ground below them. We recommend this one when crowd control is essential – being overrun by walkers? Go complete “Hulk Smash!” and let the Zs crawl through the flames to get to you.
