Life isn’t made easy for you in Sons of the Forest. What is often part of the game principle is sometimes due to the missing features of the survival title. The developers are now delivering an option requested by the fans via a hotfix. Why this was not previously included remains a mystery.
The Forest from 2018 already enjoyed great popularity among fans of robust survival challenges. With Sons of the Forest, the successor started in early access last week. Of course, the title is still missing a few features that the developers at Endnight Games are gradually providing via updates.

However, experienced survival players massively missed a special option. So the game developer had no choice but to deliver them via hotfix. While we’re not sure why the hotkey system wasn’t included from the start, it’s finally here. In your inventory, you can now assign objects to a specific key on your keyboard. As usual, the number series 1 to 0 can be used. So you take weapons or tools much faster in your hand.
But that’s not the end of it. The update finally includes a total of 320 megabytes. For example, you can now skip cutscenes if they don’t interest you. There is also the option of using the ESC button to go back a step in various menus. Pretty standard, but as I said: Sons of the Forest is still in Early Access.
But even if the survival game still lacks some features, it enjoys great popularity. A whopping two million units were sold within the first few hours. Some AAA studios dream of such figures. The fans are mostly positive in the Steam ratings and express understanding for some imperfections. The early access phase should last about six to eight months.
