Scottish pizza oven brand Ooni is launching two new products – the Ooni Volt 12 and the Karu 12G – and one doesn’t even need the great outdoors to be useful.
The Volt 12 is its first indoor and outdoor electric pizza oven, while the brand touts the outdoor Karu 12G as “the world’s most advanced portable pizza oven”.
The Volt 12 is a completely new product for the brand, as all of its ovens to date have been outdoor only and fired with wood, charcoal or gas. Ooni Co-Founder and Co-CEO Darina Garland said, “We’ve spent years developing an oven that brings the pure power of our outdoor ovens indoors!
Ooni has put its years of pizza oven engineering to the test to design a product that can reach the extremely high temperatures demanded of a pizza oven, while being safe for a home kitchen.
The Volt 12 can reach 450°C in 20 minutes and cook a 12-inch Neapolitan pizza in just 90 seconds. It can also be used to make New York and pan-style pizzas. It has temperature control and a timer, and the temperature can go down to 150°C, so it can be used for other types of cooking, as well as cooking the meat, vegetables and more.
It also has a boost function to quickly heat up your pizza stone and ensure that if you cook more than one pizza, each one comes out just as good as the first.
The Vott 12 has a triple pane borosilicate glass door, so you can see your pizza cooking and it has been designed to fit on a standard kitchen counter. It weighs 18 kg, so although you do not store it in a hanging cabinet, it is possible to move it. It’s also a beautiful device, with a clean and modern design.

It is IPX4 rated and is also suitable for outdoor use, as long as you have a secure socket. The Volt 12 has an RRP of £799 and you can buy it from Ooni today.
The all new Karu 12G
Ooni is also launching the versatile Karu 12G, which is based on the design of its larger outdoor pizza oven, the Karu 16, but with a few improvements.
Like its big brother, it can be fueled by wood, charcoal or gas. However, it is more fuel efficient than previous Ooni models, using 36% less propane (that’s if you use the optional gas burner accessory).
Kristian Tapaninaho, Founder and Co-CEO, says the Karu 12G is “for anyone who wants to make great pizza at home or take pizza on the road. This oven embodies a decade of pizza oven product development and provides a superior pizza making experience.

The Karu 12G has the luxury features of the Karu 16, but in a smaller size similar to the Frya 12 and for a more attractive price. It only takes 15 minutes to heat up to 500°C and it can cook a pizza in just 60 seconds. It features a built-in analog thermometer, borosilicate glass drop-down door and window, and an extra-large fuel pan.
It was designed to be portable and easy to carry, weighing 15.5 kg. The Karu 12G is priced at £379 and is available to pre-order from Ooni ahead of its June release.

If you want to stock up on pizza making accessories, Ooni is also launching space-saving pizza dough boxes for rising dough balls. (£49.99 each from Ooni)and pizza prep lids (£34.99 each, also from Ooni). The former will hold 12 balls of dough each and the latter are bamboo boards for preparing dough – but they also make handy lids for cans of dough.
