Man, Ash and Pikachu are really leaving this Pokemon Anime pretty soon, huh? With every farewell episode that airs in Japan, and everyone new info In the new animated series to come, the farewells to the show’s longtime protagonists are starting to feel more and more real. In case you had a hard time imagining it, The Pokémon Company has released some early footage of the new season, which will star new protagonists Liko and Roy.
Much of the new trailer consists of character art for Liko, Roy, Friede, and Captain Pikachu, but there are a few shots of Liko choosing her Sprigatito partner, making friends at her school, and preparing to battle a Ceruledge. There’s also a sick shot of Friede descending to the scene on the back of a Charizard. As sad as it is to say goodbye to Ash and Pikachu, I’m optimistic about this new cast. The first episode, which will be an hour-long special, will air April 14 in Japan.
At the moment, the anime is concluding a series of farewell episodes dedicated to Ash and Pikachu’s 25-year journey as the duo visit old friends from all of their adventures. The final episode will air on March 24th in Japan and will show a heart to heart between Ash and his original rival Gary.
Unfortunately, it may take some time for American fans to see this episode in English since Pokemon is wrapped in a License agreement with Netflix released the episodes in waves instead of how they air in Japan.
As such, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing the English dub of Liko and Roy’s debut anytime soon, as the Netflix rollout will still be several episodes behind the Japanese show by the time it airs next month. It means you’ll have plenty of time to check out Ash and Pikachu’s previous adventures if you can handle it The series’ 25-year run is split across multiple streaming apps.
