By now you are more than likely aware of the massive security that Nintendo has had to deal with with their games. In December, it was revealed that old games were getting updates due to Nintendo patching a security vulnerability called the “ENLBufferPwn” exploit. The exploit would allow hackers to take over the console without detection, and all the hacker had to do was for the victim to play one of the vulnerable games online.
However, solving the problem was not easy. Nintendo has discovered the existence of an exploit on certain Switch, Wii U and 3DS games. Nintendo fixed the issue on the 3DS and Switch, hence the various updates seen last year. Meanwhile, even though Nintendo is making progress, Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 are still vulnerable to exploitation. However, it looks like that is about to change. Yesterday, Nintendo pulled the plug on Splatoon 1 and Mario Kart 8. It is not known when both games will be available to play online.
