Super Mario Bros. Release Date of the film is just around the corner, and the film’s directors, Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, spoke with Total Film about Princess Peach and her role in the film. Horvath explained that they thought about her position, both in the film and in the video games, as the monarch of the Mushroom Kingdom and what being a monarch would entail considering her personality and her behavior. Movie Super Mario Bros. launches worldwide on Wednesday, April 5.
“Mario’s goal is to save his brother from Bowser’s clutches. For that he must go on this epic adventure. So Luigi, who is known for his nervous, anxious personality, finds himself in the worst possible predicament: he has to survive the trials with Bowser and go through the challenge.”
“She is the monarch who rules this kingdom of hapless, lovely Frogs. We thought about how strong this person would have to be to protect these people. All of this influenced the idea of Peach’s character in our film.”
