The Witcher Remake is not there for the time being and the comrades from CD Projekt have a new game to present to us in the meantime.
CD Projekt has big plans for The Witcher. Between a Netflix series that will continue for several more seasons without Henry Cavill, a highly anticipated The Witcher 4, or even a mysterious The Witcher Sirius, fans will have plenty to do with the Witcher’s universe. The upcoming games are numerous and among them there is also a remake of the very first game of the franchise.
The Witcher remake, expected at an unspecified date, is currently in development by the Fool’s Theory studio. A Polish box created by former members of CD Projekt who seem to get along very well with the latter.

It is The Thaumaturge, an RPG in isometric view that should surprise us with an atypical plot. The game indeed sends us an alternate Warsaw under Russian influence in the early 1900s. In this universe, humans live alongside demonic and magical entities, who however are able to control certain chosen ones. We embody exactly one of them, a kind of exorcism / summoner capable of taking control of various creatures. If the frame is not known, The Thaumaturge promises, however, a long story lined with dialogues in which each of our decisions will have consequences. The studio also says there will be multiple phases of investigations.
Plenty of combat is also expected and this is where the game relies on turn-based tactics. Our summoner can not only make our points do the talking, but also summon the creatures he has captured to fight. Each demon will have their own unique traits and abilities.
The Thaumaturge, a promising game?
The Thaumaturge is still very mysterious, but remains promising. Fool’s Theory developers are almost all veterans, some of whom worked on the series. The Witcher. The studio can also count on the support of the publisher 11 Bit Studios, to whom we owe the excellent Frostpunk, among other things.
It smells pretty good from here, although we’ll wait to know more before screaming genius.
The Thaumaturge is currently being announced on PC, via GOG, Steam and the Epic Game Store, but has no release date yet.
