If you think there aren’t enough Dragon Ball games in the world, good news, because Bandai Namco just revealed a new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game.
It’s been years since we last got into a Dragon Ball game in this particular series, but yesterday, Bandai Namco teased that a new Budokai Tenka game was in development. If you have taste, you obviously know that these are some of the best games based on the classic manga, but there have been no new entries since 2011. While the trailer, which you can check out below, is short and doesn’t explicitly say if it’s Budokai Tenkaichi 4 or something else, it will give you a nice dose of nostalgia.
The trailer shows off the original game all played on an old chunky CRT, damn if seeing it didn’t bring back some fond memories of my childhood. Apparently you can see that Super Saiyan Blue (I didn’t write the whole thing) will be featured, showing Goku specifically transforming into his enhanced state. Transformations are easily one of the best features, so even though the trailer is short, it’s great to see them return in such a bombastic fashion.
One of the other best parts of the game is how well they stack with different characters. The third game has 98 different characters to play as, for a total of 161 forms. This is the perfect series to live out your Dragon Ball fan fiction, which I definitely didn’t do, and I definitely won’t mention this, because that’s what I did.
There isn’t even a release window for such a short trailer, so we’ll just have to wait and see when it releases. Although it’s almost guaranteed to be released on at least a new generation of consoles.
