The market researchers from Counterpoint Research have unveiled the top 10 smartphones that will be sold worldwide in 2022, according to their research. As in the previous year, this is dominated by Apple. Models from the Cupertino manufacturer occupy eight of the ten places. The remaining two go to Samsung.
Apple and Samsung succeed, Xiaomi crashes
A success for both manufacturers. In 2021 there was only one Samsung cell phone in the top 10, but there were two Xiaomi models and seven Apple cell phones. Xiaomi, on the other hand, goes away empty-handed this year. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is a surprise. For the first time, the most expensive version of an iPhone generation is selling better than the corresponding Pro and basic version.
While the iPhone 14 Pro Max ranks 3rd, the iPhone 14 Pro only ranks 8th. The basic model ranks 7th. The best Samsung cell phone is the Galaxy A13 in 4th place. Unsurprisingly, first place goes to the iPhone 13. Last year, the predecessor iPhone 12 took the top position.

Another trend is likely to be a greater focus on premium devices to offset falling demand with higher profits.
