Greg Street, executive producer of the Riot Games MMO in development, has announced his departure from the company, citing a “combination of personal and professional considerations” as the reason for his departure.
He also tweeted that the personal loss he experienced last year led to his desire to be closer to his family.
Street had previously announced Riot’s intention to create an MMORPG, much earlier than games in development usually do. This is for hype, and to encourage developers to join in and help build the project from the ground up.
It seems to be paying off, as in the post announcing his departure from Riot Games, Street wrote: “As a part of it, the most important job I can do is build a great team Keep humble, I’ll brag about this team all day!” This team seems to be leading the “next phase” of MMO development? It’s still possible that the game is in a very early stage of development.
hey internet. Thanks for all the support over the past few months while I was away
I’m back now with some big news: I’ve decided to resign from my position at Riot Games

This is of course a big loss for the project, but understandable. After nine years at Riot Games and going through personal issues, Street’s departure seems entirely amicable. It’s true that some heavyweights were left in the game, including but not limited to Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, former lead quest designer for The Witcher 3, and Mark Yetter, former lead game designer for League of Legends.
With Greg Street out the gate and into the sunset, we’ll just have to wait patiently for future updates in the game’s development. Hopefully, whoever succeeds him will be as open to the online community as Street was.
