Square Enix says Forspoken’s launch sales were “lackluster”. In addition, the Square Enix President is to be replaced.
Square Enix announces that Forspoken’s early sales were a complete disappointment and “lackluster” at launch. The game was released in January and holds a Metascore of 64 for PlayStation 5.
Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda said the game’s sales have been “disappointing” following “difficult” reviews.
“However, the game has also received positive feedback on its action features, including its parkour and combat abilities, so it has produced results that will improve our development capabilities for other games in the future,” he told investors.
“Nevertheless, sales have been weak and while the performance of the new titles to be released in February and March will ultimately be key, we see significant downside risk to our earnings in FY2023/3.”
Square Enix has also announced that it plans to replace current President Yosuke Matsuda. In one today published notice
