The Artificial Intelligence war has begun. ChatGPT and Bing are two of the AI apps when it comes to chatbots. How could it be otherwise, a necessary protagonist in this area is Google, which recently announced that they are working on Bard.
We haven’t seen it respond to user requests yet, but perhaps at Google I/O 2023 we’ll have more information about its availability and application. For this reason, we ventured to imagine How far can the influence go? of this new AI in Android. That’s all I could offer. So take note, Google.
Full integration with Android
One of the biggest problems with chatbots today is their lack of integration with other services or systems. For example, ChatGPT amazes us with its responsiveness, as does Bing. However, the Microsoft browser yes it takes advantage of some of the potential of the company, allowing the “assistant” to drink in the results of the search.
This fact perfectly illustrates what Google should do with Bard: total integration and in all parts of the system. It’s worth that Android already has AI technology for certain sections of the system, such as energy management or even in the Google photo service, but the chatbot could go further.
However, we are talking about an integration like the one enjoyed by Google Assistantwhich allows you to lower the sound of the mobile, make calls, send WhatsApp, among many other tasks that show how the assistant is able to apply the changes that the user had to make manually.
If Bard ends up connecting to Android, he’d be grateful if will inherit some Assistant functionality, like some of those we have named. In addition to answering questions and providing search results, Bard on Android could allow for more complex actions. Imagine being able to say to him: “Enable notifications from the X application” or “block access to the WhatsApp camera”.
The high level of understanding of the chatbots that we were able to test makes us imagine a thousand cases in which AI could help us control the mobileour “wearables” or home appliances.
A smarter assistant?
When we talk about an assistant, several questions arise: Will Bard replace Google Assistant? Will he merge with him? There is no doubt that the Google Assistant would take a big leap forward if supported by AI technology. Not that it makes much sense to embed Bard in the browser and leave the Assistant as we know it.
The latter does not seem likely, as it would waste a pretty big opportunity to strengthen all of Mountain View’s services.
When we pitted Bing against ChatGPT, we pointed out that the latter service I was missing an app. Microsoft has been concerned about this, and that’s because it integrates Bing into different parts of its ecosystem: the Bing mobile app, in Edge, and even in the taskbar of its desktop operating system.
We should expect something similar from Google, which could add your AI benefits in Assistant, allowing it to be summoned and made any question or request by pressing a button. That is to say, we could see Bard in Google Chrome, in the main search engine and on Android, even through the “original” Google application. The one where we access Discover.
Google has a secret weapon: a powerful ecosystem
Now, let’s dwell on a no less important aspect: the ecosystem formed by Google. Thus, we can quickly list several services such as Maps, Drive, Gmail, Keep, YouTube… this huge ecosystem coexists under the aegis of this company. And it is precisely your secret weapon to stand out from your rivals.
For one thing, ChatGPT isn’t updated with new information (its wisdom ends at some point in 2021) and Microsoft hasn’t shown, yet, any indications pointing to a new Bing integration with your other services and platforms.
In this sense, Google could link your entire ecosystem to Bard. And whether we receive directions from Maps, file suggestions from our Drive unit, or recommendations for taking notes in Keep. The possibilities are almost endless and will largely depend on what they are able to develop.
Equally crucial is Google’s ubiquity on the billions of Android devices around the world. It’s a Open window to deploy your Artificial Intelligence and collect a feedback very large. This brings us to the next point, which is one of Google’s main business avenues: advertising.
We have no doubt that this will be present in your AI, because that’s how they make money from all the services they provide “for free”. Powerful expansion of Bard to millions of devices will bring multi-million profits. Now more than ever, we’ll see ads more in tune with our tastes and needs, and that’s after all what Google is looking for.
A Bard-supported Gboard capable of write for us. Instead of asking the search engine, it would be superfluous with a dedicated button that would generate more personalized responses. Again, what we can imagine knows no bounds.
Maybe the expectation should be lowered a bit.
After discussing the possibilities of integrating Google Bard into Android, it’s time to step on the brake. The rollout of this AI will likely come in stages, integrating with various services in a quiet and slow manner.
We must also be aware that it is very difficult to develop this technology, and that it has worked perfectly from the start, so a call for calm is necessary. The appointment of Google I/O 2023 seems the great place to see something more in depth at Google Bard, see what its possibilities are and what is Google’s master plan to stand out from its rivals. They already know how much mistakes cost them, so be careful.
Google has the necessary tools and an ecosystem ready to welcome Bard. Time will determine your success.
It’s not easy, but it’s not impossible either for a company of this caliber. We will soon know what it is, where it is heading and what level of integration it reaches. A server’s wishes have been stated, sincerely and honestly, and what we offer is not unreasonable. What is certain is that we are looking forward to it, because as we have said, the possibilities are endless.
