Ladies and gentlemen… Weekend.

Yes, it’s time to wrap up another week and find out what we’re planning to play this weekend. But first, let’s take a look at what’s been happening in the world of Nintendo this week.

First up, the excellent Metroid Fusion launched on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, meaning the entire main line Metroid The series is now playable on Switch – how about that? Not only that, but the Wave 4 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass also launched on the same day, bringing with it a great new course in the form of Yoshi’s Island.

On the other hand, Grim Guardians: Demon Purge changes its English name to Gal Guardians as a result of a trademark appeal, so that’s the whole thing. We got another look at the Super Mario Bros. movie. with the final trailer, complete with Fire Donkey Kong and, uh… shoes. In the end, we asked the age-old question: which relationship is really the best relationship?

Now it’s time to relax and play games. Let us know what you plan to run in the poll at the bottom of the page. Have a nice weekend!

I managed to grab Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope last week for a decent price and have been steadily working my way through it ever since. I have to say this is a really good time (if not a little light) so I’m sure I’ll be able to put in another hour or so here and there.

Mario aside, I’m currently back on the 3DS as my playthrough with Professor Layton continues. I’m hoping to cross some more The Last Specter off the list, and then maybe, could beit will be time to tackle that pile in the eShop that I’ve been staring at for so long…

No doubt I’ll be playing a lot of Metroid Fusion this weekend now that it’s available on the Nintendo Switch Online service. I admit that even after only a few hours I feel like I’m very close to the end. I just downloaded the Space Jump ability.

Somewhere else, obviously I’ll check Resident Evil 4 Remake demo on PS5. Oh, who am I kidding, I’ve already played it about five times. It is absolutely beautiful; I can’t believe Capcom pulled this off. I never thought the intro about the village would challenge me again, but it’s so intense! Bravo.

This weekend I have one game and one game only to play: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This gameplay is a bit different though, since I don’t have fast travel rules. I was afraid it would just get annoying later on, but I got a good 30-40 hours in, and it honestly just made the game even better (I didn’t know that was even possible).

I’m just experiencing so many new things that I haven’t seen in my previous 200+ hours of gameplay, and there’s always some form of activity when you go to a new location, whether it’s Korok Seeds, Shrines, treasure chests, or a new item you can paint and add to his compendium. Truly the most fun I’ve had in a video game in years, and while Tears of the Kingdom can’t come soon enough, I’m perfectly fine playing BOTW for the foreseeable future!

I bought Skyward Sword at launch and only put a few hours into it, but I’ve backed off again for the past few weeks, getting my pre-TOTK Zelda fix. I’m currently sailing around the Lanaryu ocean/desert, so I’d like to get the next flame over the weekend.

Elsewhere, I’m cruising the 3DS and Wii U eShops to pick up before the stores close at the end of the month. I got Kid Tripp for free earlier this week, but there are still a few things I’m curious about. And I should really get back to Chained Echoes at some point. Have a nice weekend everyone!

I’m still working on my Octopath Traveler II playthrough. I’ve beaten one of the eight stories and unlocked all seven of the other final chapters, but I keep running off to do side quests and whatnot. I can’t believe how many secrets this game has. Also, I may have started with Throné, but Partitio is the best. Don’t argue with that. Yeh-ha!

By the way, the hype surrounding Paranormasight: The Seven Isteries of Honjo meant I had to buy it, and within an hour I was already hooked. I can’t wait to see what tricks this game will pull on me and I love anything that messes with my mind and my expectations.

We’ve got a strong Nintendo DLC-fueled weekend ahead with the latest Divine Prologues Fire Emblem Engage along with eight brand new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass tracks (plus Bird!). We’re looking forward to the first few chapters of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon secured by an unexpected demo drop on the eShop.

Game of the week is Metroid Fusion, a remarkable re-use of Wario Land Advance to produce a worthy sequel to the narrative/horror driven Super Metroid. Despite having replayed the game two summers ago, the opportunity to play it again on Switch is just too good to pass up.

We hope you enjoyed reading! Let us know which game you’ll be headlining in the poll above, and leave a comment with your weekend gaming plans!
