There is a technical innovation that really everyone should try once in their life. Hello Netzwelt – here comes the best news of the week.
A podcaster says a dangerous sentence – then an SUV crashes into the studio. We are excited about Sony’s new VR glasses. How long does a modern television actually last? And what does the white heart mean? Trembling on the dance floor for 192 hours, Michael greets with flailing arms and strange moves.

Go into the living room for a moment. And? Do you like what you see? Okay, the curtains could be washed again, maybe a new sofa is due at some point. But that’s not what I mean at all. Are you happy with your TV? And if so – for how long?
Some of the editorial staff dealt more intensively with televisions this week. So if you are planning to buy a new one in the near future, want to clean your TV thoroughly or just want to know how long a typical OLED TV lasts – here is the right reading material:
On the dance floor for 192 hours
The Walkmen is alive but has shrunk to almost a microscopic size. At least that applies to the Sony NW-A306. The comparison image of an iPhone 13 Pro speaks volumes.
But our Marinus, who tested the Walkman for you, is enthusiastic about the little music player. Nevertheless, he admits in the conclusion of his test report:
In the end, the Walkman’s positives also have a lot to do with the lifestyle of the past and a little imagination with a pinch of magic.

Do you believe in coincidences? Don’t worry, you ended up on Hallo Netzwelt and not a new episode of X-Factor starring Jonathan Frakes. But what happened this week during a podcast production in a restaurant is a very strange coincidence. A coincidence captured on video.
Two podcasters recorded a new episode in a restaurant, just behind a shop window. Just a second after the presenter said the phrase “It’s so quiet in here” into the microphone, an SUV crashed through the window with full force and crushed the two podcasters. Luckily no one was injured. Incidentally, car thieves who managed to steal six expensive sports cars within 40 seconds escaped without shattering windows. There is a video of that too.
Everyone should try Sony’s new VR glasses
Yes, steep thesis, I know. But after our Darius fled to Sony’s motherland Japan and gave us the opportunity here in the editorial office to try out the PSVR 2 intensively, we are just as enthusiastic as he was in his test report on the VR glasses.
Whenever I walked past the glass wall of our meeting room this week, I could see faces beaming with joy. But Sony also makes it easy for us and you, in the truest sense of the word. Fortunately, the new PSVR 2 no longer has much in common with the heavy, bulky VR glasses of the past.
The glasses are comfortable to wear over long periods of time, as there is only one cable leading from the glasses to the console. The setup process alone is spectacular. And games like Gran Turismo 7 are nothing short of breathtaking. Breathtakingly realistic, also thanks to ray tracing. A small example.
Driving in an otherwise rather boring small car on a remote race track, the deep sun shines into the cockpit. I look down my virtual left arm, which also has a few rays of sunshine dancing on it. Immediately I feel warm on my skin.
Only when I want to reach for the sun visor and notice that it doesn’t move do I realize again that I’m wearing VR glasses on my head and not actually driving a race. In short: the technology has developed so much in recent years that everyone should try it out. That’s so awesome! Driving license only on certificate
The following message literally went through the roof this week and moved you a lot. Background: The EU is planning a driver’s license reform. Don’t worry, you don’t have to exchange your driver’s license again.
But there is talk of sending people over a certain age to the doctor to check whether they are still fit to drive. Because in contrast to other European countries, such as Italy, the following applies to the acquired car or motorcycle driving license in Germany: Pass it once, drive for life.
A picture of the mood on our social media channels quickly shows that the proposal is not well received. There is talk of deprivation of liberty. From a threat to democracy. That was somehow to be expected in a car country like Germany. The other side of the coin is often forgotten. My almost 90-year-old neighbor literally bumped into my knees in the parking lot of a supermarket the other day. I stood right in front of him, waved at first in a friendly manner, then became more and more hectic. He just didn’t see me, and I was wearing a bright yellow jacket.
I don’t even want to imagine him driving on the autobahn at the recommended speed. How do you feel about the topic? We look forward to exchanging ideas with you on Facebook, Twitter and Co. and will be happy to answer your letters to the editor.
The flat joke of the week
Friends of the Netzwelt – it’s snowing here right now and I had a big snowball fight with the neighbors’ children during the lunch break. I didn’t get away well, I’m thirsty for revenge. So here comes the flat joke of the week and I’ll say goodbye until next week. Bye!
