In 2021, the development studio Ratloop Games dared a bold experiment. With Lemnis Gate, they released a multiplayer shooter, which almost feels like a round tactics game due to a time travel mechanism.
Apparently, however, this concept was too experimental to attract a large player base. As developers and publishers Frontier now announced in a short statement on Steam, Lemnis Gate will very soon disappear completely from Steam and will then no longer be playable on the PC either.
Even if you have the game in your Steam library, you will soon be unable to launch it. What Lemnis Gate actually is, you can read in our preview:
Stop Selling and Shutdown
In the statement on the Steam product page, the team thanks all the players who have given Lemnis Gate a chance over the past year and a half. But also that this ambitious project can no longer be supported. Two dates were mentioned that initiate the end of Lemnis Gate.
- 11. April 2023: On this day, Lemnis Gate will no longer be sold, neither on Steam nor on consoles. However, those who already own the shooter can still play.
- July 11, 2023: In the summer, however, the servers will also be switched off. After that, PC players can no longer play at all, console players can at least start local multiplayer.
Exact reasons for the shutdown are not given, but they are also obvious. Lemnis Gate just didn’t sell well enough. Rarely have more than 100 players been online on Steam. This is of course dramatically underwhelming for a multiplayer shooter.

Shooter with potential
The shutdown and the poor sales figures are all the more bitter because Lemnis Gate was actually received positively throughout. On Steam, the shooter has 86 percent positive ratings, of which there are only 758. The biggest criticism is that too few people are playing.
Lemnis Gate was also largely positively received by critics. The game has an overall rating of 75 on Metacritic, with many well respected magazines giving it an 80 rating. In the end, however, the courageous approach and the positive reactions were not enough to make Lemnis Gate a success.
