Apple TV + has been risky when it comes to winning over followers with proposals of different genres and formats. And while his most successful series was the comedy Ted Lasso, the performance doesn’t rely on repeating that formula. So, the next big premiere announced in style is a post-apocalyptic series, whose story promises to be very interesting.
Silo is the dystopian series that Apple plans to release on May 5 this year. It is based on the novels by Hugh Howey and explores the complicated dilemma of the future on Earth.
Apple poses a dystopian future in its next series
To give us an idea of the complexity and challenge of the project starring Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones and Tim Robbins, Apple has shared the first trailer, as we let’s share it below.
Silo follows the story of the last 10,000 people left on Earth, who live in the depths of the titular Silo to avoid the toxic world above. No one knows for sure why, or who built the bunker, and the tension between this mystery and the apparent horrors of the outside world is the catalyst for what appears to be a feud between the bunker’s lower castes and their rulers.
The dystopian future is a constant among the programs in the catalog. With the launch of the service in 2019, Apple launched See, the series set in a post-apocalyptic future in which all human survivors of a strange virus lose their sight. The show, starring Jason Momoa, ended after three seasons.
Just in March this year, the bet continued with the premiere of “Extrapolations”, the series which will tell the story of a natural disaster caused by climate change on a dystopian future Earth. But it’s not just the story, the series has a cast full of big stars from the world of cinema and series such as Meryl Streep, Kit Harington, Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, Tobey Maguire, Gemma Chan, Sienna Miller and David Schwimmer.
